“They have literally changed lives. Whether it be keeping someone from going to prison, helping one return from prison, or breaking the bonds of addiction to restore ties to their family, I have witnessed miracles.”

Prime for Life®: A Prevention Program

CFC uses the Prime for Life ® program as an alternative treatment program for clients who may be making high-risk life choices. This may include impaired driving offenders, college students and young people who have been charged with alcohol and/or drug offences. This is an evidence-based program included on the National Registry of Effective Programs and Practices (NREPP).

Prime for Life ® has proved effective in changing high-risk attitudes, beliefs, risk perceptions and behaviors, and has been shown to reduce recidivism in the DUI population. Instructors in the PFL program have been specifically certified to teach this program. It the preferred program in many states such as Georgia, Kentucky, Iowa, Maine, South Carolina, and others. Carefully tailored to function as a “therapeutically educational” tool, program goals have been established to reduce the risk for health and impairment problems.

Prime for Life ® requires that all participants begin and conclude the program at the same time. As such, CFC offers the majority of its treatment programs in the Matrix; however, its proven track record with young people makes it an effective tool with the youth who are referred for educational programming. Prime for Life ® program serves as a pre-treatment and support system for those who already need treatment.

Prime for Life® Program and Requirements:

Prime for Life® requires that the client attend an educational group one time per week for eight (8) weeks. In combination with weekly classes, the client must attend, and document, a minimum of one (1) twelve step meeting per week.

There is no Aftercare component with this program and clients need only attend the required sessions to complete this level of care.
